Who Am I?  What is My Story?

My story is much like many others. I have known joy, sadness, grief, anger, disappointment, and bliss. Like so many, I have walked through seasons of life asking: Why am I here? Who am I? What is my purpose? Why is this happening?

Through the years—as a mother of two boys (now incredible young men), the wife of a military husband, a surfer, a scuba diver, and a nurse practitioner in palliative medicine for over 13 years and a nurse for 20 years—I have been given the gift of seeing life in all of its rawness and its beauty. Each chapter has shaped me, humbled me, and taught me to meet life with curiosity, compassion, and courage.

As a palliative nurse practitioner, I have sat beside people as they heard the words you have cancer, or your heart can no longer sustain life. I’ve supported those whose lungs or kidneys could no longer carry them in the way they once had. I have cried with families as their loved ones transitioned into the next part of their journey we call death. And I have celebrated with patients and families when life offered a miracle—when a final round of chemotherapy was completed, or when someone took their first breath on their own after weeks on a ventilator.

These moments—joyful, devastating, sacred—have been some of my greatest teachers. Through them, and through my lifelong practices of meditation, yoga, and play, I learned that true healing occurs when we tend to the whole person: mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual.

As a yoga teacher and a soon-to-be certified Yoga Therapist, I’ve witnessed what becomes possible when healing the whole self becomes the foundation of care. This belief guided me into a quiet moment at church one day as I reflected on my dharma—my deep personal mission. The congregation began to sing Called to Serve and later As I Have Loved You. Music has always been a sacred language to me, and in that moment, something within me stirred and settled all at once. My purpose became unmistakably clear.

I am here to help, support, and walk alongside those navigating chronic illness and cancer. I am here to witness you, listen to you, and hold space for your whole experience. I am here to use the tools of yoga, meditation, and eastern healing practices to support your body, mind, and spirit.

With years in the medical field and my training in yoga therapy, I weave together evidence-based care and holistic wisdom to create treatment plans that meet you exactly where you are—and support you in where you hope to go. As a mom, a wife, a sister, and a friend, I also bring compassion, empathy, and a deep respect for the human journey.

My Dharma

My dharma—my deepest purpose—is to serve with compassion and to love through presence. It is the quiet, steady calling that has shaped my path as a mother, a nurse practitioner in palliative medicine, a yoga teacher, and now a yoga therapist.

I have been guided by the belief that healing happens when we tend to the whole person—body, mind, spirit, emotions, and intellect. Through years of walking beside individuals living with chronic illness, cancer, and profound transitions, I have learned that being truly seen, heard, and supported is its own form of medicine.

My dharma is to offer that medicine.

At Lila Yoga, I am here to walk with you—to listen deeply, to honor your story, and to bring together the wisdom of yoga therapy, meditation, and integrative healing. I am here to support you through the challenges, the uncertainties, and the moments of grace along your journey.

As I have been loved, I offer love. As I have been supported, I support you. This is the heart of my work. This is my dharma.
